ALICE–Some Alice residents were concerned after a report came out about arsenic levels being high in ground water in Jim Wells County.
Many residents flooded the Alice city utilities department asking questions about the water. They were worried there was something wrong with the drinking water in the small town.
Alice city officials issued a warning today about its water.
“There isn’t arsenic in the water here in Alice and residents don’t have to worry about anything,” said Ray De Los Santos, the Alice City Manager. ” We don’t use ground water in Alice at all. We use surface water and have tested it recently with no problems.”
A media report stated arsenic levels are high in some rural communities in Duval, Nueces, Bee Jim Wells and Refugio County.
That prompted the phone calls in Alice, but city officials said the water is fine to drink.
