HIDALGO–Federal authorities seized more than $1.4 million worth of cocaine during a search of a car at a Rio Grande Valley port of entry crossing on Tuesday.
Customs Border and Protection officers flagged a car driven by a 22-year-old U.S. citizen returning from Mexico at the Hidalgo Internati0nal Bridge near McAllen in the Rio Grande Valley.
During a check of the vehicle, they found 19 packages of cocaine hidden in the car. The driver was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to face federal charges. Authorities seized the 2009 Dodge Nitro sedan he was driving.
