ALICE–The Texas Education Agency is now investigating the case of a former Alice P.E. teacher under investigation for possibly exposing himself to a fellow staff member.
Omar Vidaurri left Noonan Elementary School a day after a complaint was filed with the Alice Police Department earlier this month. His attorney claims the school district paid out his contract and he didn’t resign.
Alice Police continue to investigate the case and the allegations Vidaurri exposed his genitials to a staff member last September. While that episode is being investigated, they are also making sure no children saw this happen. Alice ISD released a statement saying no children saw it.
The TEA has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Alice Police Department to get the records of the investigation.
Investigators are also looking into the action of the school district. According to the TEA website, the district must report an allegation, like this, in a timely manner. Sources said the school district knew about this before the official complaint was filed and were trying to sweep it under the rug.
Alice ISD officials haven’t returned phone calls asking for a comment on this case.
The agency who will decide if any criminal charges will be filed won’t be the Jim Wells County District Attorney’s Office. To avoid any conflict of interest, they are going to ask another agency be appointed to handle this.
