Tatman Sentenced to 12 years in prison

CORPUS CHRISTI–A Nueces County Judge sentenced a couple to serve their sentences concurrently avoiding long prison sentences in a case of severely burning and abusing their daughter.

Palanco Tatman, 30, was found guilty on four counts of child abuse on Monday afternoon and jury recommended he serve up to 24 years in prison on three counts and a 15-year suspended sentence. Judge Jose Longoria said he would have to serve 12 years in prison, while serving two other sentences at the same time.

Judge Sentenced Robinson to 13 years in prison

His fiance, Crystal Robinson, 27, was convicted on four counts of child abuse and the jury recommended 22 years on three charges in prison and a 5-year suspended sentence. Judge Longoria sentenced her to 13 years in prison, while serving two other sentences at the same time.

The girl testified she was burned in a hot shower by Robinson and Tatman last June ignored her pleas for help. She also said she was abused by the couple and there were bruises on her body. She testified she was told by the couple to lie to authorities about the burns and the bruises.

In their testimony, Robinson and Tatman denied putting the young girl in hot water or treating her differently because she was a step-daughter. They also said they didn’t abuse her.

BROWNSVILLE–A Brownsville woman was charged after she was accused of leaving her child home alone on Wednesday afternoon.

Olga Borrayo, 35, was arrested on a charge of child abandonment with an intent to return. Her bond was set at $5,000.

Authorities said a city worked noticed her 8-year-old riding a scooter by herself and chasing a loose dog. Police were called in and found the child by herself in the home without any supervision.

CORPUS CHRISTI–A Corpus Christi criminal got caught red-handed burglarizing a home, while the homeowner watched television in her bedroom early on Thursday morning.

The woman walked out of into her living room around 2 am and found her 55 inch television missing. She called 911

When officers arrived at the home, they saw the large screen tv located in the yard near the living room. They searched the area and  found Gerardo Favela, 20, hiding on her property.

Favela was charged with burglary of a habitation.
