KINGSVILLE–Kleberg County law enforcement authorities have arrested the parents of an infant girl who died while in their custody in early October.
Authorities said David Charles Waffle and Liana Zavala were taken into custody earlier this week at two different locations in the Coastal Bend on a warrant of injury to a child.
Sophia Waffle, who was seven months old, died on October 3rd after suffering injuries to her head and not getting proper medical treatment.
“The child had head injuries and the two of them didn’t get her seek medical treatment until it was too late,” said Lt. David Mendoza of the Kleberg County Sheriff’s Department. “We believe she suffered the injuries from a fall and she later died.”
A warrant was issued and Waffle was picked up his place of employment in Alice, while Zavala was arrested at her home in Driscoll.
