Coastal Bend Prepares for the Return of a Fallen Marine

Body of Fallen Marine Colton Rusk Will Return Thursday

CORPUS CHRISTI–The Coastal Bend is getting ready for the return of a U.S. Marine who died in Afghanistan War and will have services this weekend.

Colton Rusk, 20, who was a star football player at Orange Grove High School, was shot and killed in combat on December 5th.

The body of Rusk is set to arrive into Corpus Christi International Airport on Thursday. A viewing will be held on Friday at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Annaville on Friday, followed by a 10 am service at River Hills Baptist Church in Calallen.

Rusk graduated from Orange Grove High School in 2009. He joined the Marines right after graduation and was a bomb dog handler. He wasn’t afraid of dying and knew he might pay the ultimate price in the Afghan War.

The small town of Orange Grove is in shock over Rusk’s death. Many say he was a great person who could have done many things with his life, but he wanted to serve,. He knew this could happen and was blessed with enormous bravery.
