CORPUS CHRISTI–A military soldier who died in the Afghanistan War has returned home to the Coastal Bend so friends and family can say their last good-byes to him.
U.S. Marine Corps PFC Colton Rusk, 20, who was a star football player at Orange Grove High School, was shot and killed in combat on December 5th.
The body of Rusk arrived into Corpus Christi International Airport on Thursday. A viewing is being held today at Sawyer George Funeral Home in Annaville from 2 pm until 8 pm, followed by a 10 am service at River Hills Baptist Church on Saturday in Calallen.
Rusk graduated from Orange Grove High School in 2009. He joined the Marines right after graduation and was a bomb dog handler. He wasn’t afraid of dying and knew he might pay the ultimate price in the Afghan War.
The small town of Orange Grove is in shock over Rusk’s death. Many say he was a great person who could have done many things with his life, but he wanted to serve,. He knew this could happen and was blessed with enormous bravery.
