CORPUS CHRISTI–Corpus Christi Police have found the most dangerous missing explosives taken from its storage unit in Annaville in the Nueces River near Labonte Park and one person is under arrest.
Christopher Anderson, 20, was arrested on two charges of burglary and is in the Nueces County Jail.
About 12 pounds of TNT and C4, which are used to detonate explosive devices, were taken on December 9th from two storage units used by the Corpus Christi Police Department at an Annaville location where the agency keeps its explosives.
CCPD and local businesses offered a $10,000 reward and a Crimestoppers reward for any information about the missing explosives.
Police received a tip about Anderson and they arrested him. During the investigation, they found out the explosives were in the Nueces River and the Dive Team started a search on Thursday.
So far, they have found an ammo box with 87 blasting caps. Officers said it’s the most dangerous explosives taken from the storage unit.
The Dive Team will be out again on Friday, searching the river near the boat ramp at Labonte Park. They hope to find the rest of the explosives taken in the burglary.
Anderson is the only suspect in custody, but an investigation is ongoing.
