ALICE–The City of Alice will host its first-ever State of the City Address given by the Mayor to civic and business leaders in February.
John Lemon will talk about the city’s finances and the numerous infrastructure project ongoing in the city of 20,000 residents.
“In the past, if people wanted to know how their city was doing, they just went to a council meeting,” said Lemon. “Well, we are changing that and we are bringing the information to you.”
Lemon also said this is a way to show an open government and help show residents what is happening economically in the city.
“This is the next step in our openness and transparency,” said Lemon. “We started by airing our council meetings and getting a new website. At the start of the New Year, we started using Twitter and soon will have the State of the City Address.”
The address will be held at the Alice Country Club Banquet Room on February 8 from 11:30 am until 1 pm.
