CORPUS CHRISTI–A grand jury indicted a Navy lawyer stationed at NAS-Corpus Christi for receiving and distributing child pornography from his home computer.
Mark Tilford, 43, a Corpus Christi resident and active duty Navy JAG Lt. Commander, was indicted by a federal grand jury on a nine-count indictment.
The indictment accuses Tilford of receiving and distributing child pornography from his home from July to September of last year.
Prosecutors said the child pornography consisted of images and videos of children engaging in sexual explicit conduct.
Tilford was arrested this morning at his home in Corpus Christi by special agents with ICE and Navy Criminal Investigative Services.
He made his initial appearance before U.S. Federal Magistrate Judge B. Janice Ellington. She ordered him held without bond pending a federal prosecutors motion hearing on Friday.
A trial date for Tilford is set for March 2nd. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
