RIO GRANDE CITY–Border Patrol Agents working on a tip discover 1,700 pounds of marijuana worth $1.4 million at an abandoned location in Starr County.
Agents got a report of suspicious activity at a ranch near Graceno. When they arrived, they found the 220 packages of marijuana inside a cinder block building.
“Thanks to an alert citizen speaking up and reporting suspicious activity, these drugs won’t make it into our communities,” said Chief Patrol Agent Rosendo Hinojosa. “When people speak up and take a stand against crime, our communities are a lot safer.”
The marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
