ALICE–A small street-level drug operation gets shut down in Alice after police get called to the home about a man carrying a gun in public.
Alice Police officers said they have been watching these drug dealers on the 200 block of Escobar, trying to build a case against them.
On Friday morning around midnight, a resident reported seeing man displaying a handgun.
So they decide to raid the location and shut down the drug operation. They arrested six people ranging from 18 to 35.
“I am very pleased we made these arrests of these people selling drugs in our community,” said Alice Police Chief Daniel Bueno. “This is only the beginning and we plan to do more of these operations to stop drugs from being sold in our community.
Those arrested were Kidmond Vela, 27, Raul Martinez, 35, Arnold Alaniz, 30, Jose Luis Sanchez, 28, Esteban Arroyo, 18, and Jesus Trevino, 27. All are facing a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Officers found a small amount of cocaine in their possession and were able to arrest the six men based on this evidence found on them.
Bueno said this drug operation was shut down thanks to the community.
“The community is concerned about this type of criminal activity regarding drugs,” Chief Bueno said. “They stood up, made calls to make us aware of it and that made it possible to put these guys out of business.”
