BROWNSVILLE–A man gets in trouble for shoplifting with his 3-year-old son, then tries to escape from authorities while in custody, injuring his young child.
Police said Kevin Parkinson, 23, was seen shoplifting with his son inside the HEB located on Paredes Line Road. Officials said he was busted with about $50 worth of items on Tuesday evening around 6:30 pm.
When police tried to make contact with family to come pick up his 3-year-old child, Parkinson decided to try to escape. He was caught after a short chase, but he struck his son in the head during the commotion and a loss prevention worker was complaining of an injury to his shoulder.
The child was turned over to his mother and CPS was informed of what happened.
Parkinson was arrested on charges of assault, theft, evading arrest and child endangerment. A judge set his bond at #15,000.
