Start of a New Era at CCPD

CCPD Police Chief Troy Riggs promoted several new officers to senior leadership positions.

CORPUS CHRISTI–Retirements of an assistant chief and a police commander with more than 70 years of experience have led to the announcements of new leadership at the CCPD.

At a promotion ceremony on Monday morning, Commander J.V. Garcia and Steve Mylett were both promoted to Assistant Chief.

CCPD Asst. Chief Mike Walsh retired last month

They replace former CCPD Assistant Chief Mike Walsh, who had more than 40 years of experience at the department, and Commander John Mosley with about 30 years of experience.

Both worked as Interim Police Chief before Chief Troy Riggs was appointed late in 2009 and were considered the number two and number officers in the administration. They agreed to stay on during the transition after the appointment of new police chief.

Others getting a promotion are Captain Santiago Escalante, Captain Todd Greene and Captain Mike Markle who were promoted to commander.
