Diego Morales, 17, Roberto Sanchez, 20, and Jorge Eduardo Sanchez-Bustos, 18, were arrested for burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of criminal instruments, evading arrest and engaging in criminal activity.
An off-duty officer saw the three breaking into cars at the Cinemark Theatres around 7:30 pm. He was interviewing them when they ran away from him and jumped into a car.
An officer who was coming to help with the call blocked in the car. When the three tried to driver out another way, another unit blocked the escape.
Police found inside the car two radio faceplates, a car radio and perfume that were taken in a car burglary so the three were arrested.
Officers discovered Morales had warrants for outstanding warrants from the Brownsville Police Department on separate charges from a different crime. The warrants were for evading arrest, evading arrest with a motor vehicle and assault on a public servant.
All three were taken to the Brownsville City Jail and were arraigned on Sunday morning. Bond for Sanchez-Bustos was set at $18.000 and bail for Sanchez was $25,500. For Morales, with the outstanding warrants, his bail was set at $69,000.
