CBP Money Seizure in Lower Rio Grande Valley

BROWNSVILLE–Customs and Border Protection officers working southbound traffic at a port of entry in the Lower Rio Grande Valley seized more than $150,000 on Monday.

The officers were working outgoing traffic at Los Indio International Bridge near Harlingen when they stopped a San Benito man.

In his car, officers found $152,000 of cash in ten packages hidden inside the car.

“This southbound interception of bulk currency is a direct result of the continuous enforcement operations our officers and agents perform on a daily basis,” said Michael Freeman, CBP Port Director in Brownsville.

CBP officers seized the currency and the vehicle. The case was turned over to ICE.
