CORPUS CHRISTI–Five people are caught nearly nine hours after they stole a car with a gun inside of it from a Corpus Christi home.
Police responded to a home on the 500 block of Hancock around 2 on Sunday morning and found out a 2004 Avalanche was taken from the home. The car owner reported a handgun was inside the car.
Dispatchers put a BOLO or a to be on the lookout for the car for officers on patrol in the area.
Nine hours later, an officer pulled over the stolen vehicle with a several people inside the car, including juveniles.
Officers took the 15-year-old driver into custody. A female passenger, Lechel Booker, an 18-year-old passenger, was found to have a Nueces County warrant for violation of probation and was arrested.
Another female passenger 14-years-old was found as an active runaway and was transported home along with her other 14-year-old twin sister.
A rear passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was reported as an active runaway out of San Benito. This teenager also had a warrant for a probation violation for unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
The Avalanche was recovered and returned to Mueller. The handgun was also recovered and released to the victim.
