CBP Seize $1.7 Million in Drugs

HIDALGO–U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized approximately 59 pounds of narcotics at two Upper Rio Grande Valley international bridges worth $1.7 million.

CBP officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge last Wednesday stopped a 19-year-old driver coming into the United States in 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

In secondary, officers seized seven packages of crystal methamphetamine that were discovered within the pickup truck. The methamphetamine weighed approximately 10.4 pounds and was valued at $157,408.  CBP seized the vehicle as well.

Two days later, CBP officers working at the Anzalduas/Reynosa International Bridge found 20 packages of cocaine hidden in a car driven by a 22-year-old woman from Mexico. came in contact with a northbound female driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger sedan.

In this seizure, the cocaine weighed approximately 48.5 pounds and was valued at $1.5 million.  CBP officers seized the vehicle.

CBP officers transferred the man and woman to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.
