HIDALGO–A man wanted for attempted murder in the Rio Grande Valley was caught by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at an Upper Valley Bridge as he tried to cross as a pedestrian.
CBP officers working the pedestrian primary lane today at the Hidalgo International Bridge encountered a man identified as Josue Jesus Zavala, 25, an Edinburg resident . Checks of a CBP database by a primary CBP officer resulted in Zavala being escorted to secondary for verification of outstanding arrest warrants as a suspect in an attempted homicide in Edinburg.
At secondary, CBP officers verified the outstanding warrants on Zavala. CBP officers arrested Zavala and turned him over to the custody of the Edinburg Police Department.
Zavala was transported to the Edinburg City jail and will face pending charges.
