CORPUS CHRISTI–Corpus Christi Police Officers report a couple was hit early Sunday morning purposely by a man after the two groups were thrown out of a nightclub for fighting.
Officer responded to Tejano Nights for an accident involving a pedestrian. While en route, the call was updated and Officers were told a black Ford F-150 was following the suspect vehicle.
Officers pulled over the silver Chrysler 300 at McArdle and Ayers and detained the driver Mark Anthony Marquez and his passenger Stephanie Rodriguez.
The investigation showed the driver Mark Anthony Marquez, 29, had been involved in a fight inside the club with the victims and all were thrown out of the club.
As the victims walked to their vehicle Marquez revved up his engine and drove straight at the couple.
Both victims were struck with the 25-year-old female bearing the brunt of the impact. She was taken to Doctor’s Regional by CCFD Emergency Personnel with serious injuries.
The 38-year-old male sustained minor scrapes thus allowing him to chase after the suspect.
Marquez was medically cleared for two small lacerations and arrested. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Duty to Give Information and Render Aid, and Driving While License Suspended.
Stefanie Ann Rodriguez, 29, who appeared to be intoxicated was also arrested. She was charged with Public Intoxication.
