Cocaine and Marijuana Load Seized at Pharr Bridge



PHARR–Drug smugglers failed in their attempt to haul two loads, including one worth nearly $5 million, across an Upper Valley Bridge.


Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a marijuana load last Friday at the Pharr_Reynosa International Bridge. Inside a Freightliner trailer, officers detected narcotics.

A thorough examination led to the discovery of 349 packages concealed in a trailer. It weighed out to more than 2,000 pounds and was worth $4.9 million.

Two days earlier at the same bridge, a Reynosa resident was sent to secondary. CBP officers discovered 16 packages of hidden inside a 1999 Mercury Sable. It weighed about 40 pouinds.
