Corpus Christi Man Sentenced in a Child Porn Case

CORPUS CHRISTI–A Corpus Christi man will spend time in federal prison after the repeat offender was sentenced in a child pornography case.

Brian Puckett, 52, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday following his conviction of possession of child pornography, United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson announced. Puckett had pleaded guilty to the charge in January.

At the time of his guilty plea, Puckett admitted to the facts as presented in court. In April of last year, Puckett was among a group of individuals identified in an undercover investigation by FBI agents as a person actively searching for child pornography images on the internet.

With the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), the FBI was able to develop the lead and obtain a search warrant for Puckett’s home in Corpus Christi.

As part of that investigation, it was discovered that Puckett had previously been convicted of receipt of child pornography in 2004 and sentenced to 63 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Hayden Head.

Although Puckett had taken steps to misdirect his online identity, FBI and ICAC were able to determine Puckett to be the person actively attempting to receive child pornography in this investigation.

After the search warrant was executed, a cell phone was recovered which was later determined to contain images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The federal judge also placed Puckett on supervised release for the rest of his life following his release from prison. Puckett has been in custody since his arrest where he will be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility in the future.
