HIDALGO–U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers seized about $700,000 in drugs at two Upper Valley Bridge on Sunday.
A 39-year-old male, who was from Reynosa, arrived at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge driving a 2001 Nissan Frontier pickup truck.
The officers discovered eight packages weighing about 18.47 pounds of cocaine that was hidden in the rear quarter panels of the vehicle. CBP seized the cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $591,040 and the vehicle as well.
On the same date at the Pharr International Bridge , CBP officers encountered a 25-year-old male Reynosa resident , driving a white 1995 Chevrolet van. After presenting his border crossing card, the traveler and vehicle were referred to secondary for further inspection.
There, CBP officers discovered and seized 59 packages weighing about 138 pounds of marijuana which was hidden in the vehicle. CBP also seized the vehicle along with the marijuana, which has an estimated street value of $110,232.
