BROWNSVILLE–Customs officers found nearly a half million dollars in cocaine Monday inside a car of a Mexican national at a Lower Valley international bridge.
CBP officers at the Los Indios International Bridge stopped a female from Santa Maria, who was driving a white 2006 Dodge Stratus for a primary inspection.
Examination by CBP officers revealed six hidden packages concealed within the vehicle’s battery. CBP officers removed the packages from the vehicle, which weighed out to nearly 15 pounds of cocaine.
The cocaine from this seizure had an estimated street value of about $476,800. CBP officers turned the woman over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents and seized the narcotics and the vehicle.
