Santa Rosa Man Arrested for Attempted Arcade Robbery

OLMITO–A Cameron County man is in jail after he’s gets in trouble Thursday trying to rob a Santa Rosa 8-liner business last weekend.

Sheriff investigators report Jose Angel Carriaga and a second man tried to rob an arcade on FM 506 in Santa Rosa, but the two were scared off when the security guard pulled her weapon them on May 11th at closing time. .

Sarah Ann Gonzalez, a security guard, reported she told them to leave. One of the suspects left quickly, while the other took off when he saw the other suspect was gone.

Sheriff investigators canvassed the area and went to the Stripes in Santa Rosa. They found out the two men went there and the convenience store allowed them to look at the surveillance tape.

According to the court filing affidavit, one of the workers identified Carriaga as one of the suspects. Gonzalez confirmed he was one of the people involved with the attempted robbery at the arcade.

A judge issued an arrest warrant for aggravated robbery and Carriaga was arrested on Thursday.
