RIO GRANDE CITY–U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Rio Grande City Port of Entry seized over $1 million worth of marijuana that was concealed within a commercial shipment of fresh produce on Wednesday.
CBP officers at the Rio Grande City/Camargo International Bridge encountered a red 1998 Volvo commercial tractor pulling a white 2002 Utility trailer at the port cargo facility.
The conveyance was loaded with a manifested commercial shipment of fresh papayas and was referred to secondary for further inspection.
In secondary officers discovered 112 packages weighing about 1,318 pounds of marijuana that were concealed within the front wall of the trailer.
CBP seized the marijuana that has an estimated street value of approximately $1,054,000 and the tractor/trailer as well.
