Weather: 74 degrees with 13 mile an hour wind SSW
Winner Plays Navasota who won last night 38-7 over West Orange Stark.
Port Isabel Tarpons beat Navarro in a dramatic come-from behind victory winning 35-28 last week. They drove 95 yards in the closing minutes to force tie, then won the game in overtime behind the running of Running Back Javier Vela.
Bellville beat Orange Grove 42-0 in a game they dominated from start to finish. The Bulldogs were without their star qb who only played one series due to an injury.
The Tarpons will be without Vela for this game as he is suffered from an illness and has been in the hospital most of the week. It’s a big loss for Big Blue so the other running backs must step it up and fill his void.
The defense will be facing off against the most talented team they have seen this year. The Brahma run a Slot T and other multiple formations. They run and pass the ball well. Last week. PI had issues on the edges with the Slot T, but made adjustments and did better in the 2nd Half. they must play well on defense to win this game.
Bellville has a big offensive and defensive line. It’s the biggest team PI has seen this year. Tarpons players must win the battle in the trenches. Coaches believe the players can do it. It’s not about size they say, it’s about heart.
Bellville lost three games throughout the year. They lost to El Campo in district and who are playing in the state semis in Region 1. They also lost to Giddings, who didn’t make the playoffs, and Kinkaid, a Houston Catholic High School football team. This team can be beat, but Coach Monty Stumbaugh know it will be a challenge. As you move further into the playoffs, the teams get better and it’s tims to see if the Tarpons are ready for the next level.
