Cedar Park Will Play in State Finals After Beating Sharyland; Update on Playoff Teams That Beat Valley Squads

BROWNSVILLE–Cedar Park from the Austin area, who knocked out Sharyland about a month ago in San Antonio, will be playing in the State Finals tonight at AT&T Stadium.

Cedar Park plays Ennis, who has a 13 game winning streak. Cedar Park beat Sharyland 52-24 in the Region Semifinals. The Timberwolves defeated Crosby to advance to the State Finals.

Cedar Park, which is located in Austin, won a state championship in 2012. They beat Lancaster 17-7 in the Conference 4A Division II Championship.

Ennis has won four state championships in its history, but the last time they won state was in 2004. They won their first title, beating Cuero for the 3A championship in 1975. That was followed by three state titles in five years from 2000-2004 in Conference 4A Division II. Ennis is only about 50 miles southeast of AT&T Stadium.

San Antonio Brandeis defeated Rivera in the Region Semifinals in Kingsville on Thanksgiving Holiday weekend, but they lost to Cibolo Steele from San Antonio in the Regional Finals.

Cibolo Steele, who defeated Weslaco East in the Region Semifinals, went on to the State Semifinals and lost a heartbreaking overtime game to Katy last weekend in Houston. Katy will play for the State Title on Saturday afternoon against Cedar Hill in a rematch.
